Black is a standard color option available within the A-Series, E-Series, 400 Series, and 100 Series lines. In most cases, ordering this color will not increase the price of your windows. However, there is an additional cost to selecting black within the 100 Series line due to the technology required.

An excellent and affordable black window option is the 100 Series. Made of patented Fibrex material, these windows are twice as strong as vinyl. And unlike black vinyl windows, which often fare poorly in hot climates (sometimes even melting), Fibrex material performs well in all climates, even when exposed to extreme temperatures.

Want to start exploring your options? Our design tool will let you work through the selection process so you can start envisioning your new black windows. Or keep reading for advice on pairing windows and with a dark exterior.

Reunion Windowing allows developers to easily manage and create app windows. The feature works with existing app codes, simplifies common operations and brings new functionality to desktop apps like Light-Dismiss Behavior, Picture-In-Picture mode and easier titlebar customization.

It's NOT about a single file loss after restarting a computer but almost everything! People say that restarted my computer and everything is gone in Windows 10 or Windows 11, and that's really a horrible experience, especially they don't know how did this happen and where to find the disappeared files on the hard drive in Windows 10!

Above all, let's exclude the inevitable consequences of doing a Windows 10 factory restore and formatting a hard disk on purpose. There are perhaps three reasons why you lost everything for no reason after a normal computer restart.

The first solution might be helpful if it's because of an unexpected computer restart for configuring Windows 10 updates or something related to a system update, it's likely that your computer suffered a hard crash and couldn't load your profile on the reboot. It probably loaded a temporary profile instead, so everything seems to be gone.

And since the Administrator account has no protections, using it daily is dangerous. If you mistakenly installed malware, there would be nothing to stop it from infecting everything on your computer. This, combined with introducing more flexible account security options, is why Microsoft disabled the Administrator account by default starting in Windows Vista.

Now you know everything there is to understand about the default Administrator account in Windows. And though we've said it several times, it's important to emphasize: unless you absolutely need the Windows Administrator account for a very specific purpose, do not use it.

For starters, there's a new user experience, with refreshed colors and icons, major changes to the Start menu and taskbar, an extensive reworking of the Settings app, a Widgets pane designed to deliver bite-sized chunks of news and reminders, and a greatly improved way to snap windows into position.

Visuals aside, Windows 11 also makes some fairly radical changes to fundamental parts of the Windows UX, including the Start menu and taskbar. The Start button still sits at the left of the taskbar, but the taskbar itself is now centered at the bottom edge of the display. (There's a setting to move everything back to the left if you don't feel like overpowering your muscle memory from decades of having Start in the lower left of the screen.)

On touch-enabled devices and tablets like the Surface Pro, you'll find big changes in the way that the pen and touch elements work, with more graceful transitions from PC to tablet mode and vice versa. On conventional PCs with multiple monitors and docking stations, the system is finally smart enough to remember the arrangement of windows when you reconnect. There's also a new Voice Typing feature that lets you dictate text to be automatically typed into any app or text box. (Press Windows key + H to activate this feature.)

Options for arranging windows on large external displays are significantly expanded compared to Windows 10. The familiar "snap" shortcuts still work to position windows side by side, but hovering the mouse pointer over the icon in the upper right corner of any window displays additional options for arranging three or four windows, as shown here. Those arrangements are also available from the taskbar, allowing you to restore a specific arrangement with a single click.

The redesigned Settings app now features a persistent left menu. It saves you from having to back out of nested settings to quickly get to another group. Otherwise, you get most everything found in Windows 10's Settings.

Angie Nordstrum: Yes, I did. I took a big leap of faith in myself when I made the shift to running my own business full time. I dove in headfirst creating murals, restaurant chalkboards and decor, graphic design work, branding projects, painting windows and running craft events all over the Front Range. I have always wanted to work for myself and have my own creative business.

Hurricane windows are engineered to be much more durable than standard glass windows, in order to resist the high winds and flying debris associated with hurricanes. These windows are specifically designed to not shatter upon impact.

The materials for hurricane-resistant windows vary by manufacturer; however, they share some similarities. Hurricane-grade windows are generally made with two pieces of heat treated glass bonded together to a thin plastic membrane. There are many other material options but this membrane is typically made from polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or ionoplast polymer.

As with anything, the cost of hurricane-resistant windows varies dramatically from manufacturer to manufacturer. The impact rating, materials and specialized needs can impact the total cost, too. However, here are some average estimates to give you an idea of pricing.

Some states, cities and municipalities actually mandate that your building have hurricane-resistant windows. Florida, for instance, lays out stronger requirements for hurricane-resistant homes and buildings in the Florida Building Code (FBC). However, not all properties are required to have hurricane-rated windows.

In addition to withstanding storms, hurricane windows are durable and long-lasting. They tend to have a longer lifespan than regular windows, making them a wise investment regardless of local climate.

A car accident can lead to all types of damages, including broken windows. This might lead you to wonder if your insurance policy covers broken windows. The type of coverage you have will determine if windows will be part of your plan should you be involved in a situation.

If you live in an area where Hurricanes present a threat, you need impact-resistant windows and doors. Impact-resistant windows and doors are made to withstand the force of flying debris during a hurricane or severe windstorm.

These windows feature two pieces of heavy-duty glass with a tough laminated interlayer between the panes. This design helps prevent the glass from breaking, and even in extreme cases when it does break, the impact creates a spider web pattern on the glass without actually shattering the window.

Impact-resistant windows and doors are often simply called impact windows and doors. They combine heavy-duty frames with impact-resistant laminated glass and a special silicone glazing process to keep the glass from breaking away from its frame. Impact-resistant glass is comprised of two panes of glass bonded together with a special interlayer of clear polyvinylbutyral.

Although wind-borne debris or an attempted break in may crack the glass on impact, the interlayer keeps the overall window and door intact, preventing destructive winds or intruders from entering your home. Replacing traditional windows with impact-resistant windows will help both to gain the best energy efficiencies and to protect the envelope of your home.

Choose from vinyl or heavy duty extruded aluminum painted with an electrostatic paint for a low maintenance finish. A minimum frame depth of 2 3/4 inches on windows and 5 1/8 inches on sliding glass doors, with a minimal nominal wall thickness of .062 aids the system in withstanding strong winds. Molded nylon anti-friction sash guides assure a smooth operation.

Impact-resistant windows and doors come in all design styles, including single hung windows, horizontal roller windows, casement/projected windows, picture and architectural windows, sliding glass and French doors. Design options include colonial and Brittany styles with optional mountings. 2ff7e9595c
